Week 12 – A piece of marble and a chisel

I have had an amazing week and it all started off with the experience I had in writing week 11’s blog. The fun I had in putting it together and then adding the pictures. I had no idea what I was about to experience on Sunday as week 12 of our course started with the reading of my one sentence Definite Major Purpose (DMP) for 60 minutes [this occurred at 24H00 due to time differences, which added its own twist, reminding me of military night time patrols]. This included doing the physical activities to activate the opposite sides of the brain. I have extracted some of the readings which impacted me this week.

Some extracts from Master Key – Hannel.
12. 4.”The only way to keep from going backward is to keep going forward. Eternal vigilance is the price of success. There are three steps, and each one is absolutely essential. You must first have the knowledge of your power; second, the courage to dare; third, the faith to do.”

12.5. “With this as a basis you can construct an ideal business, an ideal home, ideal friends, and an ideal environment. You are not restricted as to material or cost. Thought is omnipotent and has the power to draw on the Infinite bank of primary substance for all that it requires. Infinite resources are therefore at your command.”

In 12.6 “your ideal must be sharp, clear-cut, definite.”

12.18 “Thought impregnated with love becomes invincible.”

12.21. “It is the combination of Thought and Love which forms the irresistible force, called the law of attraction.” And when things don’t work out as we expect,“We should rather conclude that a little more understanding of the law is required, for the same reason that a correct solution of a difficult problem in Mathematics is not always readily and easily obtained.”

Some thoughts that were given to guide us “Don’t look outside for answers look inside” and “Don’t allow yourself to be influenced by others, have faith, keep doing the work”640px-David_von_Michelangelo

I was reminded in 12.7. “Unfortunately this is the result which many are securing, and the cause is self-evident. If a sculptor started out with a piece of marble and a chisel and changed his ideal every fifteen minutes, what result could he expect? And why should you expect any different result in moulding the greatest and most plastic of all substances, the only real substance?”

This reminded me of a story I was told some time back about the Italian sculptor, Michelangelo who sculpted the figure of David in marble. On completion, he was asked the question as to how he knew that image (David) was in the marble? Apparently his response was “All I did was remove all the parts that did not look like David”.

This leaves me to conclude that I must continue to keep the watchman at the gate vigilant, look inside for the answers, have faith, continue to combine Thought and Love focusing on my DMP. And then I will “produce my David.”
